Overemphasizing is a mistake that should be avoided meticulously when interviewing as a Designer
So, there's something I found out to be common among designers when interviewing for a role. Different from the adrenaline rush, in anticipation of getting hired, is a trap worth avoiding.
I'll explain in detail...
As a designer, don't generalize your role in an interview. What remains a pattern is that whatever you say during the interview will become the modus operandi for your employer (if you eventually get on board). Be specific when describing your role. Recruiters may tempt you by asking what your expertise is.
Avoid giving an endless list of your hobbies. Instead, be professional and cut the chase to your area of specialization. Take, for instance, you're interviewing for the role of a brand designer, it unnecessary talking about your web development skill.
Remember, whatever you say may be used against you in your contract, so speak professionally and stop trying to impress.
